چکیده
Fried's frailty phenotype (FP) is defined by exhaustion (EX), unexplained weight loss (WL), weakness (WK), slowness (SL) and low physical activity (LA). Three or more components define the frail state, one two prefrail. We described longitudinal transitions of FP states in The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA). included participants aged ?50 years with information at TILDA wave 1 (2010), who were followed-up over four waves (2012, 2014, 2016, 2018). Next-wave transition probabilities estimated multi-state Markov models. 5683 (2612 men 3071 women; mean age 63.1 years). Probabilities from non-frail to prefrail, 27% 2%, respectively. Prefrail had a 32% probability reversal non-frail, 10% risk progression frail. Frail an 18% prefrail 31% death. transitioning not having component were: 17% for LA, 11% SL, 9% EX, 7% WL 6% WK. dying WL, 15% WK, 14% 13% LA. recovering next 59% 58% 40% 35% LA 23% SL. are characterized dynamic transitions. The impact of frailty on healthcare utilisation in Ireland: evidence from the Irish longitudinal study on ageing
INTRODUCTION To examine the impact of frailty on medical and social care utilisation among the Irish community-dwelling older population to inform strategies of integrated care for older people with complex needs. METHODS Participants aged ≥65 years from the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA) representative of the Irish community-dwelling older population were analysed (n = 3507). The...

METHODS A cross-sectional study of a nationally representative sample of community living adults aged 50 years and older using data collected from 2009 to 2011 for the first w...

متن کاملCohort profile: the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing.
Ireland shares with other developed countries the prospect of rapid and sustained population ageing. The age distribution of the Irish population is undergoing a dramatic change at present and this trend is predicted to continue into the future. People are living longer, and older persons represent a larger proportion of the population. In Ireland, the proportion of the population aged 565 year...
متن کاملProinflammatory genotype is associated with the frailty phenotype in the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing
BACKGROUND Frailty is a state of increased vulnerability to poor resolution of homeostasis after a stressor event, which increases the risk of adverse outcomes including falls, disability and death. The underlying pathophysiological pathways of frailty are not known but the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and heightened chronic systemic inflammation appear to be major contributors. METHOD...
